Xavier Espot Miró


Mr. Xavier Espot Miró was born in Escaldes-Engordany on 14 February 1953, he is married and with two children. He studied elementary education in the French School of Escaldes-Engordany and secondary studies in Saint Joseph School of Toulouse (France), specialising in the literary branch (language option). He studied Law during two years at the University of Toulouse and graduated in Law at the University of Barcelona. He is a lawyer and he is part of the Bar Association from the Principality of Andorra.

In 1979 he started working as a proxy in the foreign department of Banc Internacional – Banca Mora, until 1984 when he took responsibility over the administration, management and direction of the family business.

In 1989 he became Conseller General (MP), a responsibility that he exercised until 1992. From that year, he held various senior political posts such as Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Andorran Government (1992 – 93) or Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra to the French Republic (1994 – 95).

From 2007, he held the posts of Ambassador of the Principality of Andorra to the Kingdom of Spain, to the Principality of Monaco (2007 – 09), to the Swiss Confederation and to the Principality of Liechtenstein (2008 – 09), as well as Ambassador to the International Organisations in Geneva and Ambassador Observer of the Principality of Andorra to the WTO. During 2009, he also took office as Charge d’Affaires in the French Republic.

Mr. Xavier Espot Miró was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Institutional Relations of the Principality of Andorra on 8 June 2009.
